Materials Systems and Dynamics I

Prof. Fumitaka Mafune

Course Objectives/Overview

This course covers spectroscopic studies and kinetics of short lived species.  Studies include energy level diagrams of open-shell species mainly for diatomic molecules together with experimental studies of short-lived reaction intermediates.

Schedule

Study detailed energy level structures of open-shell diatomic species subject to spin-orbit, spin-spin, and spin-rotation interactions, followed by studies of experimental investigations so far done for short-lived reaction intermediates mainly in microwave, mm-wave, and infrared regions. Students hoping to attend this class are required to know quantum chemistry, kinetics and dynamics at undergraduate level.
