Environmental Measurement and Evaluation IV

Prof. Naonori Kakimura

Course Title

Environmental Information Analysis

Course Objectives/Overview

This course introduces students to various mathematical techniques to deal with complicated real-world problems such as environmental issues. To analyze a real-world problem, students will study how to describe the problem as a mathematical model and how to solve computationally the model in an efficient way. In particular, the focus is on a mathematical optimization model, which is one to find the best possible choice out of a set of alternatives. Many examples from environmental issues will be provided through lectures for better understanding.

Schedule

The topics planned to be covered are
- mathematical modeling
- applied linear algebra
- mathematical optimization
- network models
- probabilistic models
