Profile

Prof. Aziz is currently an Associate Professor at Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo. He received his Dr. Eng. from Kyushu University in 2008. He is the principal investigator of Energy and Process Integration laboratory, The University of Tokyo. His general research area mainly focuses advanced energy conversion systems. His lab (Aziz Lab) research topics include energy modeling and optimization, renewable energy utilization, energy storage, and hydrogen production, storage, and utilization. In energy modeling, dynamic modeling for small and large scale energy system (region, country levels) is also conducted by utilizing big data and artificial intelligence for prediction and optimization. In addition, for hydrogen production, chemical looping technology is introduced and developed for hydrogen production and CO2 separation (clean hydrogen production). Research on hydrogen storage focuses on the development of new structure for effective metal hydride-based hydrogen storage, facilitating excellent hydrogen storage density, charging/discharging rates, and strength.
